Discover Dordogne

Within the « Parc Naturel Régional Périgord – Limousin », the town of Mareuil is at the head of Aquitaine, bordering the Charente region, about 25 miles from Angouleme & 28 miles from Perigueux.
A small town, population 1100, Mareuil has a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants, wine cave, internet point,and a weekly market, also recreational facilities including designated walking & cycle routes, tennis, horse-riding, fishing , etc.
There are schools and a creche, also a campsite on the edge of a small stream within the town. Other notable towns in the area include Nontron, Brantome, Riberac, and Boudeilles, all having their own characters & specialities.

CLIMATE :

Mareuil is far enough south to enjoy a pleasant Easter (around 17°) and hot but not unbearable summers of 28/30° in July & August. Winters can be cold, with overnight frost and clear skies, but much shorter than more northern Europe.
